The meaning of Chammak Challo
The word Chhammakchhallo (Spelt chammak challo also) is used for a girl who is flashy in appearance. The word can be called part of slang, and can be derogatory as well, though it's not a swear word. Exactly, chhammak here refers to the sound of jingling as someone walks, and chhallo was most probably used for chhallas (chhalla = a ring, not necessarily the one worn in a finger) and hence chhammakchhallo was used for someone who used to make a jingling sound with her jewels.

Chammak Challo is a song composed by music director duo Vishal-Shekhar as a part of the soundtrack for the 2011 Bollywood film Ra.One. The song's male vocals were provided by international pop star Akon, while the female vocals were provided by Hamsika Iyer. Chammak Challo is also noted for being the first musical collaboration of Akon with Indian artists. There are four other versions of the song in the album, including a remix by Abhijit Vaghani, another remix by DJ Khushi and an international version sung solely by Akon with no female vocals. The song, along with the rest of the soundtrack, was officially released on September 12, 2011.

Bollywood, the name evokes singing and dancing, large choreographed pieces, love and romance but never any actual kissing. Now let's add science fiction to that list with special effects galore and 3D and a mention that this movie now holds the record for the most expensive Bollywood film ever made. There are a lot of good points to this cinematic endeavour and there are a number of not so good points which explains why the critics have been giving mixed reviews.

Some personal notes
Nobody is going to tell me that they don't end up tapping their foot. Catchy, eh? Maybe the movie wasn't really, really good, but there was a lot to be said about it. The musical numbers were terrific in the Bollywood tradition. Shahrukh Khan is great and Kareena Kapoor is not just a beautiful woman but a good actress and dancer.
